A few months back I heard Geneva Reed-Veal, Sandra Bland's mom, speak with Lena Dunham on her Women of the Hour podcast about losing her daughter to claimed suicide.
Pulled over for failing to signal a lane change, which wasn't handle properly by the officer, she was brought into custody. Later she was found hanging in the jail cell she was held in. Her mother and family followed up with investigation questions to find any sort of clarity on the death of Sandra and were excluded from the process.
I listened to her mother's words and imagined what it might be like to lose a daughter in this way. The injustice, the lies, the deep pain. Hear this podcast, here.
